Ulster’s dance djs are fighting back by putting the rest of the world in a ‘trance’ over our most iconic tourist spots. The northern ireland trance family (nitf) came up with a way of not only showcasing the music of the finest trance djs in the world during lockdown – but also of showing off sites like mussenden temple, carrickfergus castle, belfast castle and the titanic slipways. With nightclubs closed for the last 16 months and no sign of them being able to reopen anytime soon, the flourishing trance scene took matters into their own hands. Armed with a set of decks, a dj booth, some speakers and some drone cameras, they came up with the ingenious idea of the ‘set the scene’ live sets at our most beautiful locations also including gleno waterfall, helen’s bay and scrabo tower. campervan

12 DJs that you can’t miss at Electric Picnic

Ellll is the alias of cork native ellen king, whose productions, live sets and dj sets over the past number of years have been gaining her a reputation as one of the country's most vital electronic musicians. mattresses At the tail end of 2016 she released 'romance', an ep of eerie, propulsive cuts that blended techno with artful sampling and ambience. She is also the founder of gash collective. Focused on "providing a platform for female identifying and lgbtq djs", gash collective have been striving to create gender balance at irish clubs and festivals. King recently appeared in a short film for smirnoff discussing the subject.

Https://soundcloud. Com/get-down-edits/get-down-edits-live-suncebeat-10-monday-beach-stage-set we’re almost there. Everything is packed and the last thing to do is plan out who you must see this weekend. Electric picnic will play host to many djs, whether they’re homegrown or international mammoths. There’s a diverse selection to choose from this year which will cater for whatever mood you’re in. We’ve put together a list of djs that should be essentials on your list. Some have been major players this year with big releases, others are just a guaranteed good time year in year out. No matter the cause all of the names below will be sure to round your festival season off nicely.

Resident dj at dublin’s sugar club for the past 11 years, and a regular dj at electric picnic and body and soul, aidan is well used to getting a crowd going. Couple that with the fact he’s played over 800 weddings (so basically every wedding, ever) cementing a reputation for his ‘danceable’ sets, you can pretty much guarantee the floor will be full for the night. And on top of this, he’s an expert at dj only weddings, so if you’re on a tight budget you can veto the band.

Bars and clubs, promotions zoe is one of ireland’s top female djs. She has been rocking clubbers for 10 years in clubs throughout ireland & the uk, from the ever popular northern haven, planet love, to the electrical atmosohere of creamfields. She is also in demand for product promotions and retail store appearances.

12 Irish acts you need to know about

For the last couple of years, as irish festival line-ups have been announced, you may have seen infographics appearing with titles like ‘this is what this year’s irish festival line-ups would look like without men’. The results are often stark; the stripped-back line-ups display just how few bands with female core members are doing the rounds on the irish festival scene; just 33% of electric picnic acts this year have female core members, while forbidden fruit featured just four female-centred acts. Electronic music doesn’t have a reputation for faring much better. With notable exceptions on the irish scene like kelly-ann byrne, sally cinnamon, joni kelly and cork-based rising star ellen king, aka elll, the landscape for irish dance djs and producers has largely been a sea of male names.

Belters only are the irish dj duo comprised of friends bissett and robbie g, who have come together to make songs that, well. Are belters only. The name needs no explanation, really. Over the last few weeks, the lads have had their big uk breakthrough with the track make me feel good, featuring vocalist jazzy. Currently, the track is at number 13 on the official singles chart - although it is looking to crack the uk top 10 for the first time this friday. It would be belters only's first uk top 10, as well as the top 10 for all three individual acts involved in the track; bissett, robbie g and jazzy.
